You know you a Redneck.....

You know you are a Redneck when on Christmas Day you have to borrow your parents SUV to load ( in the pouring down rain ) all the presents, luggage, family dog, 9 puppies, and a kiddy swimming pool in the back seat to travel to the in-laws for Christmas. Yes, that is right. That is how we traveled this Christmas to Laurel. It was quite a sight. Thank you to Jay's parents for letting us bring the puppies for 3 days. There were 6 kids under the age of 6 playing with the puppies every chance they could. There were so many cute pictures and funny moments that I will post later.

Also, thank you to all our friends, family, and customers for supporting us this Christmas season at Smitten. We had a wonderful first Christmas season. We can't tell you how much your business means. We are headed to market in 2 weeks and hope to find lots of great things for 09!!! Thank you again.

The puppies have now opened their eyes and walking. They are getting so big and so much more fun ( except the fact that they poop so much more ). This past weekend when it was warm we took them outside for the first time, and they played in the grass with the neighborhood kids. They also had their first meal. Here are a few pictures.

Another Night of Sleep Talking

So Jay talked in his sleep again last night ( again about Mazzie and the puppies ). So last night I was snug in my warm bed when all of the sudden Jay pops out of bed and started looking around the room asking, "where is Mazzie?" He then decides to turn on the bright overhead light and looks under the bed still asking, "where is Mazzie?" ( this is where Mazzie used to sleep before the puppies were born ) I told him "she isn't in here". He said "She had here puppies last night. I need to find her". I said "what? Jay go back to bed. The puppies are 3 weeks old." He said "oh" stratched his head and said oh yea. These are the crazy things I go through during the night. haha

It is the most wonderful time of year!
This is my favorite month of the year. I love everything about this time of year!
Here is a list of all the things I love about Christmas!
1. Our Savior is Born! He is the reason for the season! He is the reason we celebrate and what a celebration! I always love rereading the Christmas story and the Birth of Christ.
2. Love all the crazy family festivities. This is probably the only month that we get to see all our family and friends ( usually within like a 2 day period but it is so much fun ).
3. I love getting together with all my friends! I love all the dirty santa parties and annual High School, Chi O, small group and now Supper Club Christmas parties with all my closest friends.
4. I love decorating for Christmas!! I love putting up the decorations all around the house.
5. I love going to my home church in Memphis and singing all the carols, seeing all the churches' decorations, and lighting the advent wreath. ( My family is lighting it on Sunday I am so sad that Jay and I can't be there.)
6. I love waking up on Christmas morning with Jay and dumping out our stocking that we stuff for each other. It so much fun shopping for the stuffers to fill them! ( open to ideas for this year if any one has any??)
7. I love me some Christmas music. I love to turn up the music really really loud in my car and sing to the top of my lungs ( of course when I am all alone ).
8. I love the crazy lines and busy retail season. I really love when they are at Smitten!!! Its my favorite month to work retail ( which is a good thing b/c i usually work a whole lot ).
9. The food! I am not a sweets person ( usually like the salty stuff ) but I do love my some sweets at Christmas time!!!
10. And last but not least I love ending the month traveling to see my Bulldogs in a bowl game ( okay so obviously this has only happened like 5 times in the last oh 15 years). NEXT YEAR IS THE YEAR! Dan's the Man!!!

Here are a few pictures from some of the festivities.

Our House at Christmas time!

Our tree! Don't look too close it maybe leaning ( it always takes us so long to try to get it straight ).
This past weekend after church with my dad. He is such a big kid. This Sunday at Church I was sitting next to him and he started playing with this laser pointer that Jay gave him. Yes, that is right my dad in church with a laser pointer. So for anyone at church that might have seen it, no it wasn't an 8 year old little boy, it was my dad.

These are my best friends from High school this weekend at a Christmas wedding shower for Monica. It is amazing to me that even though I only get to see them a few times a year they know me so well. These girls know silly things about me that others dont know ( its so weird when they point them out b/c others don't know things like them ). These are the girls I grew up with. It is so neat b/c when I am with them I feel like we are still 15. I love and miss them all but am thankful that we are still all so close!!

The Puppies are one week old. I know I did the one week sign thing but I see all my friends do it with their babies and I just couldn't resist. I need to make sure these little pups are gaining weight and all the pictures of them are starting to look the same!!!

The puppies are taking over our life so much that we are even talking about them in our sleep...well actually only Jay. Last night Jay ( who is the worst sleep talker, he is crazy some nights ) woke me up yelling the "Puppies are on top of me, the puppies are on top of me". Then jumped out of bed and asked if I had them. I told him he was crazy and to go back to sleep.

We Have Puppies!

( So it was a good excuse to start a blog since I love reading others )

Mazzie had 9 pups! We have 4 Males and 5 Females. 3 Chocolate and 6 Black Labs. Lets just say a few more than I thought when I agreed to breed them with Mary Lucia's and Clayton's yellow lab Faulkner. Our house will be a extremely crazy for the next 6 weeks. The puppies were born the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It was a night I will never forget. Jay was out of town hunting but Jenny ( Jay's sweet sister was staying with me just in case Mazzie went in labor). I couldn't have gotten through the night without her. She was in the middle of coloring her hair, I was working a cheeseball for thankgiving, and her kids were in the other room watching a movie/jumping on the bed. All of a sudden Mazzie started acting crazy and popped a puppy out. It was the strangest night. I texted Rebecca to tell her Maz was in labor and she ended up coming over too. So Jenny, Rebecca, and I tried to explain to my 5 year old nephew why puppies were coming out of Mazzie's bootie. It was so funny and definitely a night I think little Davis will always remember. Jay made it home for puppy number 7. This is a picture from the night they were born.
